Race Book Lingo: “Exacta”

An “exacta” is a bet where you are picking two horses in the same race, that must come in 1st and 2nd in the order you selected, for the bet to pay off. A good idea if you like two horses in a race, is to “Box” the exacta. Boxing the exacta will cost you double the original bet amount. For example, a $5 Exacta box will cost you $10. But this will cover you if the horses finish 1-2 in either order.
